Say Hello to Polytropia.com 2.0
After hibernating for almost six months, this website is finally back to being fully awake, and, I dare say, it’s looking better than ever!
The whole site is now managed with WordPress, including the non-blog content, which makes site maintenance, as well as adding new content so much easier. Of course, it also helps keep a consistent look-and-feel on all pages. (Please be careful, the paint is still wet in some areas!) As for less dramatic changes, I renamed the “Human Nature” blog category to “Personal Notes” to make it sound less pompous, added a category for UI Design, and — naturally! — music will show up in the categories, too, as soon as the first related entry is online.
So far, I could hardly be happier with the changes, even though there is one more or less minor inconvenience, which will affect you, valued reader, if you have subscribed to the Musings blog: the feed URL has changed. Since changing the feed URL was inevitable anyway, I also decided to stream the new feed through Feedburner so I can see just how many of you there are. To keep reading A Polytrope’s Musings, therefore, please go to…
… and choose your preferred subscription option, or just click the RSS button in your browser. Sorry for the hassle!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
A lot of people have indirectly contributed to the new polytropia.com by contributing to the Open Source Software that is running behind the scenes of what you see here, and I am deeply grateful to all of them for making this amazing software available for free. For details about what makes polytropia.com tick, please have a look at the Colophon.
Help with the site modifications came from personal friends Ralf Bergs, who is the server’s resourceful sysadmin, and François-Joseph de Kermadec, who never tires of me asking him for his expert advice on all things HTML and CSS. Last, but definitely not least: constructive feedback about the redesign was provided by Janet Hill, Sven Fäuster, Ed Hodges, Ananda Jahn, Francis Pressland, and Richard Schieferdecker, Thanks a lot, folks!
If you, too, have any comments or suggestions about the site redesign, do not hesitate to email me, or leave a comment below. I’m looking forward to hearing from!
Well, so much for a “Welcome back!” Now, let’s get some fresh new content out there…
